The SSTFI follows the rules and guidelines of the Intel ISEF run by the Society for Science & the Public.  Rather than duplicating their work on our site and to ensure that you have the most up to date information regarding rules and forms please utilize their document library page for your rules and forms needs (click logo below):

SSTFI Specific:
 
Abstracts: Please follow the information provided on the Student Page regarding abstracts.  We do not certify abstracts as you will find mentioned in the ISEF rules; however there are some specific guidelines you should follow when preparing an abstract for the SSTFI.
 
Scientific Review Committee (SRC) and Display & Safety Committee (DSC):  There are specific rules and guidelines that relate to our fair -- mainly in regards to the review and certification process we use. 

 
State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa Disclaimer: State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa projects and participants are required to follow the rules, guidelines, SRC procedure, and size limitations of the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa which follows all rules, guidelines, SRC procedure, and size limitations of the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair. These rules, guidelines, SRC procedure, and size limitations serve to promote the ethical principles of scientific research; insure the safety of participants, officials and guests; and to maintain the fair as a properly maintained and organized science fair according to international standards. A breech of these rules, guidelines, SRC procedure, and size limitation will DISQUALIFY the project from PARTICIPATION.

 
Iowa FFA Agriscience Fair Specific:
Students registering for the Iowa FFA Agriscience Fair (a component of the SSTFI) will follow ALL rules and guidelines as specified above for the SSTFI and Intel ISEF.  In addition:
  • Students MUST register within the SSTFI registration system for the Iowa FFA Agriscience Fair utilizing the specific FFA Agriscience Fair Categories as outlined by the National FFA Organization. 
  • ONLY teams of 2 are allowed for the FFA Agriscience Fair (whereas up to 3 students are allowed in the SSTFI). 
  • Students selected to attend the National FFA Agriscience Fair will follow the rules outlined for the National FFA Agriscience Fair by the National FFA Organization. Note: these rules are much less comprehensive compared to the SSTFI/ISEF rules so by following the SSTFI/ISEF rules students will be well qualified to apply for the National FFA Agriscience Fair.
