Introduction

The State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa has grown to become the largest science fair in Iowa and is recognized as one of the outstanding state science fairs in the nation. This year marks the 56th Annual SSTFI which is scheduled for April 4 & 5, 2013. Student researchers from the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa will go on to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix, this May. In the past, many of our students representing Iowa and competing at the Intel ISEF have won top honors and have attracted national attention with their amazing research.

The State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa is helping Iowa by creating an interest in our future employees in the science and technology industries. These student exhibitors become our future engineers, scientists, computer programmers, doctors and nurses. Each year the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa provides hundreds of Iowa students with opportunities to explore science and technology and the inspiration to prepare themselves for professions which are rich in these disciplines.

Our Goals

The State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa has several goals:
• To increase the involvement of Iowa’s students and teachers in science and technology.
• To increase the number of Iowa students pursuing advanced degrees in science, engineering, medicine, computer science and mathematics.
• To recognize the accomplishments of Iowa students; our future science and technology leaders.
• To help ensure future competitiveness in science and technology for Iowa and Iowa businesses.
• To involve businesses and organizations in a partnership with Iowa State University to create a sustainable and growing science fair program.

Proposal

None of these goals would be attainable without corporate and private sponsor support. The fair would not exist each year without the generous support of our sponsors. This year we are asking you to become one of the fair’s supporters! Your gift will enable the fair to continue to move to a higher level of excellence as we strive to improve the fair and the experience of each participant.

Types of SSTFI Support

Financial Sponsorship: The Iowa 4-H State Science and Technology Fair is a non-profit organization and is totally dependent on the sponsorship and contributions from businesses, organizations, and individuals in Iowa to cover fair expenses, provide prize money, scholarships, and to fund the trip to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for the top state winners. Support can be given through the Iowa State University Foundation by filling out the enclosed gift/pledge form and returning it in the enclosed envelope. All donations are tax deductible. Gifts must be received by March 1, 2013 in order to be included in the program.

Special Awards: Sponsored Special Awards are given in addition to the fair awards. Areas that have been identified for the 2007 SSTFI include: Awards ceremony, awards, ISEF trips, printing, T-shirts, and registration packets. Your organization may also wish to support a scholarship. For more information on these opportunities, please contact:
